Changzhou AEMHY Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., LTD. (AEMHY) presented its latest durability data at the 9th Industry Workshop on Alkaline-Based Electrolysis, held at Fraunhofer IFAM in Dresden on 8–9 October 2026. Founder Albert Liu was invited to speak on Water Electrolysis in China: Progress and the Rise of AEMWE.
The annual workshop convenes component suppliers, electrolyser manufacturers, end users and research institutes around alkaline electrolysis (AEL) and anion exchange membrane electrolysis (AEMEL). On-site attendance is capped at 100 participants and this year's edition was fully booked, with remote places also taken. The programme covers five focus areas: electrolysis components, stack design, stack testing, electrolyser operation, and scaling from lab to industry.
In his presentation, Liu shared three sets of results from AEMHY's engineering programme:
8,000-hour AEM electrolysis durability results;
electron microscopy analysis of degradation in the anode, the cathode and the membrane, used to locate where ageing occurs and by which mechanism;
hydrogen-in-oxygen measurements across the operating power range tested.
"The most valuable discussions are the ones where we share not only what works, but what changes over time, what fails, and what we still do not understand. Durability data is not there to look good — it is there to put the problems on the table so that the whole chain can work on the same set of facts."
— Albert Liu, Founder, AEMHY

AEMHY develops and supplies core materials and key components for AEM water electrolysis, from catalysts and electrodes to membranes, membrane electrode assemblies and complete electrolysers. The company's participation in the workshop reflects a continuing exchange with European peers on scale-up and long-term degradation — the two questions that, in Albert's view, will decide which of today's technology routes survive into megawatt-scale deployment.

About Changzhou AEMHY Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., LTD.
